Pear Cobbler Recipe with Gingerbread Biscuits

By Irvin

Pear Cobbler Recipe with Gingerbread Biscuits. Photo and recipe by Irvin Lin of Eat the Love.

This warm wintry Pear Cobbler Recipe has a gingerbread biscuit topping that will make your home smell like the holidays!

It was staring at me from the front of the cover of a recent issue of Bon Appetit. A spiced pear upside down cake. It looked lovely and so seasonally appropriate but I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to eat an entire cake all by myself. What I can eat all by myself (with a little help with my partner) is a cobbler though! You know how much I love my cobblers. It’s mostly fruit, with biscuits on top. And …read more

Black olive and Peppadew cheese rolls

Black olive and peppadew cheese rolls 650-8

A simple one for you today, as we near the end of Peppadew week! There’s one more easy dinner coming up for you tomorrow, so today I’m sharing another easy holiday snack that takes approximately zero skill, barely any effort, and less than 10 minutes of prep time. My kind of recipe.

And before you go saying ‘how can baking buns require no skill?’ – you should know by now that I like short-cuts. These cheese rolls are actually made from a shop-bought pizza dough! As long as you go for a good quality …read more

Photo Essay: Monument Valley

By Irvin

Monument Valley. Photo by Irvin Lin of Eat the Love.

Lately my partner A. J. and I have been suffering a bit of wanderlust. A.J. is finally recovering from his terrible cycling accident from this past summer and has been back on bike for short little rides. I’ve been staring at my computer screen, doing last minute edits for my cookbook as well as trying to keep up with NaBloPoMo where I post every single day for the month of November. And as the month comes to close and December is around the corner, I find my mind wandering to the time when AJ and I were …read more

Cheesy Tex Mex tortilla roll-ups

By Becca @ Amuse Your Bouche

Cheesy Tex Mex tortilla roll-ups 650-6

sponsoredpost

I think these cheesy Tex Mex tortilla roll-ups might just be my favourite Peppadew recipe yet.

Don’t get me wrong: the spicy three bean soup was hearty and comforting; the hoi sin veggie noodles were sweet and sticky; the creamy Peppadew and artichoke dip was a yummy quick dish for a party… but these roll-ups. Ohhh, these roll-ups. I made a batch using two big tortillas, and if my husband hadn’t been there to help I would have quite happily polished off the lot. That’s the problem …read more

Turkey and Noodles, my favorite turkey leftover recipe. Photo and recipe by Irvin Lin of Eat the Love.

Thanksgiving came and went in a flash and I don’t know about you, but I’m stuffed! I ended up making TOO much food (which is typical of me) and that means leftovers for days. But after eating a dozen servings of the same thing, I kind of want something different. If you feel the same way, here’s a roundup of some awesome Thanksgiving Leftover Recipes from all over the web (including a few from this blog). Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend!

Turkey Black Bean Quinoa Bake

By Elise

Turkey Black Bean Quinoa Bake

With great power comes great responsibility. At least that’s what I tell myself about turkey leftovers.

Whoever cooks the turkey gets to keep the leftovers, right? Whoever has the extra turkey meat gets to decide what to do with it (at least that’s how it works around here). High expectations, people. That’s where the responsibility part of the power comes in. Whatever you do with the leftovers, it better be good.

Turkey Tetrazzini

By Elise

Turkey Tetrazzini

Turkey leftovers anyone? Try this American classic turkey casserole—Turkey Tetrazzini—a hearty pasta bake that includes sautéed mushrooms, a cheesy creamy sauce, leftover turkey peas, and egg noodles.

Tetrazzini is thought to have been originated in San Francisco, named after a famous opera singer of the early 1900s—Luisa Tetrazzini—who lived there for many years.

Thankful

By Hedonia It’s a given that we self-edit to some degree on social media. The face we present rarely reflects the whole picture. By way of example, in early October, I was posting updates and images during a trip to Italy, effusing over delicious food and life-changing experiences. On the surface, life was good. What I didn’t talk about was that our dog was dying. We’ve known that Reese has a heart condition for over a year now. Last September, during a dinner party, she was barking out the front window,…

Happy Thanksgiving

By foodwishes@yahoo.com (Chef John)

I wanted to wish you all a very healthy and happy Thanksgiving holiday, and to let you know we’ll be taking a few days off to eat, drink, and rest; but mostly eat and drink.

And when I say “days off,” I really mean days off. As much as I’d love to spend the holiday on my laptop, giving you all last-second cooking tips, I’m contractually obligated to take some time off, and who am I to question HR? Have a great Thanksgiving, and we’ll be back with brand new videos next week. And no, they will not feature turkey or …read more
